Tim Beaver

Lincolnshire

Target wheat yield: 12t/ha

Tim studied Agriculture at Newcastle University before travelling, and then returning to the tenanted arable farm in South Lincolnshire. He farms 500ha growing Weetabix wheat, malting barley, oil seed rape and sugar beet. He is an active member of the NFU Sugar Board and Red Tractor Crops Board, as well as holding a diploma in BASIS. The farm also runs a shoot and has mid-tier countryside stewardship agreement in place.

Tim is a big family man with two young daughters and a very patient wife. He loves watching sport and will support any Leicester team. In fact he is so keen on sport, he dressed up as a Barmy Army cricket umpire for the Ashes tour in 2002 in Australia. This resulted in him interviewing England cricketers, appearing on the front page of an Australian newspaper and dated Ian Botham’s daughter!

Having never visited New Zealand, he is most looking forward to taking in the vast countryside and hearing how they adapted post support payment. He is also looking forward to seeing their fodder beet strategy which has increased in recent years.
