Andrew Mahon

Northamptonshire

Target wheat yield: 10.2t/ha

Andrew was brought up in Dublin, arriving in the UK when he was 17 to attend Harper Adams. Following college he enjoyed some travel before returning to start his farm management career at Bromborough Estate. The 840 hectare privately owned business runs a further 160 hectares on a tenancy agreement. They operate a no till system, growing a range of combinable crops on heavy clay soil. In addition they have 80 hectares of woodland and a Mid-Tier scheme covering about 100 hectares. The business includes several renewable energy projects such as solar and woodchip.

He was a recent finalist in the Farmers Weekly 2018 awards, and has visited New Zealand before working for a silage contractor in Invercargill. Andrew is married to Hannah with three boys so doesn’t have much spare time but when he does rugby or shooting often features as well as a little Crossfit.
